I listened to this and I'm rather convinced this is the best explication of the Cosmological Argument I've ever heard (and I've heard a few). It's particularly helpful for discussing the arguments for the existence of God with some of those "smarter than you" atheists who try to throw obscure cosmology (from bouncing universes to bubble universes to string theory - it's all addressed in the lectures) at you and expect you to fold. The examples and illustrations given are easy to remember and explain - this should definitely go on the "must listen" list. It's also quite helpful that he cites his sources. If it's important for you to get the sources, do remember to bring a pencil.

The speaker is Protestant apologist William Lane Craig. I've blogged about him before, so if you need a recap on his bio just click here.

Mark Shea writes:

First I get this email from Jeffrey Mark Ostrowski, a Liturgical Composer in Corpus Christi, TX:
What if I told you that clicking a button would show you a Catholic website that contains (among other things) newly composed Catholic Responsorial Psalm scores based on Gregorian chant with Organ/Vocalist scores for the entire Catholic Liturgical year ??

And what if I further told you that these are offered ** COMPLETELY * FREE * OF * CHARGE ** to anyone who wants them, and the PDF scores can be downloaded *instantly *without even a login ??

* If I told you this, would you take five seconds to go check out the website, download PDF scores, and listen to the mp3 samples??*

* Guess what? It is true!!! No joke, and * absolutely * no strings attached.*

Here is the site

. . . and here are free Mass Parts for organ and voice:

*Who in the world would provide such a thing for absolutely no cost?*

Corpus Christi Watershed would !!! We are a 501(c)3 non-profit Catholic Institute dedicated to promoting the Catholic arts. Watershed Liturgical composer Jeff Ostrowski has composed more than 850 scores since August of 2007, and all offered online completely free of charge.

The project has been praised and recommended by several famous clerics, including two Bishops and Fr. George Rutler.

Here are two articles which explain the project in greater detail:

Finally, to show the compositional techniques employed to create this truly Sacred Music (which Pope Benedict wrote about when he was still Cardinal Ratzinger), please see this article:

May Christ bless you 100,000 times for your kindness.
Meanwhile, somebody else sends me links recommending these:

There's a new search engine which looks like it will be trying to compete against the googlemonster. So far, it looks pretty kewl. The interface is certainly different than the standard Google / Yahoo model - it's more like iTunes and it's entirely flash based. Know your audience, right?

In any case, you might check out the site: Searchme Visual Search - Beta. Note the narrowability at the top...by blog, Christianity, music, etc., depending on the search you do...

In any case, just thought you folks might be interested.

UPDATE: Odd. I'm the very first hit for "free catholic mp3", but I can't find my site with the search for "catholic mp3". Wait...nope...there I am...I'm about 100 deep. I'm about #6 on google. I wonder how their algorithm is constructed. Oh well, I'm sure it's a trade secret...

I'm really looking forward to this. If you like what you hear, be sure to check out her blog, The Dawn Patrol.

 Dawn Eden

Sex can bring pleasure -- but does it bring joy? Why would a 31-year old unmarried rock journalist in New York City embrace chastity? Dawn was a columnist for Salon, Billboard, and Mojo, and she is now the deputy news editor at the New York Daily News. After a dramatic conversion to Christian faith in 1999, Dawn traded the incessant pursuit of gratification for the thrill of chastity. For Dawn, chastity is not simply a ?no? to sex, but a ?yes? to living out all the graces one has been given by God as a human being made in God?s image. Dawn is the author of The Thrill of the Chaste: Finding Fulfillment While Keeping Your Clothes On (2007). She will speak, followed by a question and answer period.

From Spirit Catholic Radio in Nebraska comes a series of programs from perhaps the foremost patristics scholar in America today. Mike Aquilina's work has been rather exhaustive and he's exceedingly good at making the early Fathers accessible. If you've ever been confronted by someone who claims that the Early Church wasn't Catholic or that the Catholic Church was invented by Constantine (ala Dan Brown), be sure to be prepared by having listened to at least a few of these programs.

Mike is author or editor of more than a dozen books on Catholic history, doctrine, and devotion. He is vice president of the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology based in Steubenville, Ohio.
