This is a real mixed bag. Smith has some serious orthorexia and food obsession issues. And, her data about "obesity" is absolutely incorrect. All fat women, statistically speaking, live longer than all men, regardless of weight, and the life expectancy of so-called "morbidly" obese people is equal to that of so-called "normal" weight people. (The people who live the longest are those mislabelled "overweight".) It's a shame her personal obsessions keep showing up in her analogies -- it makes it nearly impossible to glean anything useful from her discussion when her metaphors are based on junk science and bigotry (and, don't even have anything to do with homosexuality). Give this one a miss; there are much better, and far less bigoted and obsessive, discussions available. (For legitimate information on fatness, start here: Especially, see the links at the right to the various series on fatness and junk science myths. For info on Orthorexia:

Yeah, I was a bit disappointed with this talk. Clearly she did her research and she comes across as very stable and in line with the Church, etc. I guess I'd say it all seemed correct, but as a talk it didn't engage so much. Oh well.
